Vegging Out With Miriam Watercolor Workshop - Random Arts

Vegging Out With Miriam Watercolor Workshop - Random Arts

Regardless of your skill level a critical and exciting component of your painting is composition. Frequently we get so focused on the object of what we are painting, we forget our purpose and composition. Background in a painting is not an afterthought, or a space filler, or just available splashes of color because “ it” needs something. Background is an integral part of the whole painting.

Working on one (maybe two) 9x12” or larger watercolor paintings, we will learn how to create a compelling composition using vegetables or flowers as our inspiration.

Bring watercolor supplies, a palate, brushes and resource photos we may use. All supplies, including paper, can be purchased at Random Arts.  I will have the correct size and type of paper available for purchase.

Send an email to Random Arts at randomarts22@gmail.com.  SUBJECT - CLASS

Succulents in Gouache Painting - Random Arts

This exciting workshop will have you looking at the world from a whole new view.  Using your images as references and live plants (and then putting them away so your creativity can flow), we will create unusual and microscopic views of the world using opaque gouache watercolor. This medium lends itself to more vibrant and flat colors, with unusual mixing opportunities.  We will create mildly abstract images, adding pen and ink, markers and even a little acrylic paint.  Watercolor or painting experience is not required, but the ability to explore and have fun as you create is!

This fun workshop is held at the wonderfil mountain studio and shop in Saluda at Random Arts.

481 Louisiana Ave
Saluda, NC 28773

In this unique workshop, Miriam will review the basic anatomy of most common domestic animals (cats, dogs, small pigs, gerbils and donkeys) and show you how to start drawing and then painting your pets. We will be working in watercolor to create simple, stylist pet portraits, creating your own unique style and visual voice. Some painting and drawing experience will help, but don’t let that stop you! Students have created some incredible work without any experience. Bring your basic watercolors, brush and paper, plus photographs of your pets! You will never pay for your friend’s presents again – as long as they have pets!
